TrueVision and Image Stream Team to Create a New Surgical Video Platform for Hospitals
New capabilities will include creation and management of 3DHD surgical content.
New Orleans (Oct 24, 2009) — At the 2009 annual meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, TrueVision Systems, the leader in 3D visualization and guidance for microsurgery, and Image Stream Medical, a leader in surgical visualization infrastructure, have agreed to provide a high level of integration between their respective technologies to create a new platform for creating, managing, and streaming surgical video that will include 3DHD content.
With the emergence of electronic medical records (EMR) and telemedicine initiatives, there is a new need to expand and improve the creation, management, and delivery of graphical information within medicine. Image Stream's visualization infrastructure supports the seamless connection of surgical video devices into a shared platform that enables routing to shared operating room monitors, recording to a central server and streaming to the desktop. TrueVision®
is a 3D HD visualization system for microsurgery converts the optical view to 3D HD stream and displays it on a projection screen or monitor in real-time. The system also records 3D surgical video that can be played anywhere for teaching, proctoring, and presentations.
Until now only 2DHD visualization has been available. The combination of Image Stream's infrastructure and TrueVision's 3D visualization constitutes a powerful new surgical care environment that was previously not available. "TrueVision and Image Stream provide essential and complementary segments required for the next generation medical image management systems" says Forrest Fleming CEO of TrueVision Systems. "Image Stream’s excellence in editing and managing 2D surgical content can be integrated with our 3D content to create a powerful, yet easy to use, video platform for teaching hospitals and operating rooms."
"TrueVision's 3D visualization system has created a paradigm shift in which technology can be utilized to provide both ergonomic and informational advantages over traditional microsurgery techniques. Integrating TrueVision's groundbreaking devices into our digital infrastructure will help to speed adoption of this very important technology and supports our mission of enabling best of breed surgical video devices in the operating room." says Eddie Mitchell CEO of Image Stream Medical.
TrueVision Systems, Inc. is the leader in digital 3D visualization for microsurgery. TrueVision has developed and patented an intelligent, real-time 3D visualization platform for microsurgery.
