TrueVision 3D Surgical Granted Fundamental Patent for Real-time Surgical Guidance Technology
TrueVision patent portfolio of computer-guided surgery methods in ophthalmic surgery continues to grow
Santa Barbara, CA, USA – May 4, 2016 – TrueVision 3D Surgical, a world leader in ophthalmic 3D surgical guidance and visualization, announced today it was issued a patent by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) for its computer-guided surgery methods. U.S. patent number 9,226,798, with a filing date of October 10, 2008, was issued to TrueVision earlier this year for an apparatus and associated methods for the generation of at least one user adjustable, accurate, real-time, virtual surgical reference indicium.
The patent, the seventh for the company in less than four years, provides a novel visualization platform with computer-guided surgery for all manner of ocular surgery including capsulorhexis for cataract surgery and corneal inlay implantation for presbyopia correction. The visualization platform can be included with or retrofit to existing optical systems such as surgical stereomicroscopes, femtosecond lasers, or LASIK machines and include at least one high resolution camera to acquire and display one or more optical views. Real-time, high resolution video is transmitted showing the live surgical view with guidance.
